Experiencing anxiety and moments of RAGE! Maybe give EFT a Try.

I know that this might seem a little “woo-woo” for some, but I have personally used EFT

Tapping, otherwise known as Emotional Freedom Technique, on and off for the last 15 years. I was introduced to EFT by a therapist who used it in her practice. At first I thought, ehh ok, I feel a bit silly tapping myself. But I couldn’t deny that it made me feel better. I tried a few more times and actually really liked it, but I wasn’t a regular practitioner by any means.

A few years later I came across a video series that highlighted the benefits of tapping, which included reducing general anxiety to weight loss to managing symptoms of chronic pain. At the time, I was going through pretty stressful life events, including early menopause and wondered if EFT could help. When I practiced tapping, it gave me moments of calm and peace. But like with many things (and I know I’m not alone),  when I start to feel better, I tend to forget all the reasons why I was doing it in the first place… and then, stop.

Recently I have been thinking, particularly during stressful moments, that I should practice again, or as I say in my head, to “tap that out”.  Meaning I

should tap that frustration, anxiety, physical pain out of my psyche and body. I have also begun to tap things that I want to happen into my psyche and body.

That’s progress for me – and it’s working! The greatest thing about EFT  is that it’s very easy, can be done anytime, anywhere and it is FREE!  Click here for a video tutorial on how to tap.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping, also known as tapping therapy, is a form of

alternative therapy that involves tapping specific points on the body (hands, head and chest) to help resolve emotional and physical issues. It is based on the idea that negative emotions and physical sensations are caused by disruptions in the body’s energy system, and that tapping on specific points can help to restore balance and alleviate these issues.

The body’s energy system is often referred to as the “meridian system” in EFT Tapping. The meridian system, a concept from traditional Chinese medicine, refers to a network of pathways through which energy (called “qi” or “chi”) flows throughout the body. There are 14 main meridians in the body, each of which corresponds to a specific organ or organ system. EFT Tapping involves tapping on specific points along the meridians, called “acupuncture points” or “acupoints.” These points are believed to be areas where the energy flowing through the meridians is more accessible, and tapping on them is thought to help to balance and restore the flow of energy.

When practicing EFT Tapping, you tap on specific points (face, torso, and hands, etc) while focusing on a specific issue or emotion. There are different sequences that can be used, however in my opinion, at least at the beginning, keep it simple. And, if this seems overwhelming or if you want more expertise, there are trained EFT practitioners you can hire  to learn the varied techniques.

Can EFT Tapping help with symptoms of Menopause?

YES! There is some evidence to suggest that EFT Tapping may be helpful for women experiencing menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, mood changes, and sleep disturbances.

Personally, tapping has helped me to reduce stress and anxiety, which are common during menopause and can contribute to these symptoms.

It is important to note that EFT Tapping should not be used as a substitute for medical

treatment, and it is always a good idea to speak with your healthcare provider regarding your symptoms. However, EFT Tapping may be a useful complementary drug-free therapy, so I say, “go tap it out!”
